Jana Goetz, RN, BSN
Jana Kay Goetz is managing editor of RealityRN and one of the founders of the RealityRN. She earned her BSN from North Park University and has practiced nursing for more than 25 years. She has worked at Chicago’s Rush Hospital in Pediatric Intensive Care, Delnor Hospital in St. Charles, IL, and currently works as a family practice nurse at Cornerstone Medical Clinic in Wheaton, IL.

Cecelia Gatson Grindel, PhD, RN, CMSRN, FAAN
Cecelia Gatson Grindel, PhD, RN, is the Associate Director for the Graduate Programs and Professor in the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing at Georgia State University http://chhsweb.gsu.edu/nursing/fac_prof_listing.asp. Dr. Grindel received her doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Her primary area of clinical expertise is adult health nursing, with a special emphasis on oncology care of the adult client.

In addition, she has also authored several articles on program and organizational evaluation. Dr. Grindel is the co-founder of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses and has received that organization’s highest honor, the Anthony J. Jannetti Award for Extraordinary Contributions to Nursing and Health Care. Dr. Grindel has held many national, regional, and local leadership positions. Her publications and presentations at national meetings are numerous.

Rose Hollister, M.Ed., MSOD
Rose Hollister is founder and principal of Hollister Consulting (www.hollisterconsulting.com). She consults with hospitals and other organizations in the areas of leadership, communication, talent development, and team alignment. Before founding Hollister Consulting, Rose served as Vice-President, Learning and Development, for Equity Office Properties. She was also a principal at Perrone-Ambrose Associates, one of the pioneer firms in building coaching capacity in cultures and leaders. Many of Hollister Consulting’s clients are in the healthcare field.

Rose is also an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she teaches Executing Strategic Change in the masters program for Learning and Organizational Change.

Amy R. Morton-Miller, MS, APRN, BC
Amy R. Morton-Miller is currently the nursing instructor in the associate degree nursing program at College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. Though she is now a full time instructor, she occasionally works as a per diem staff RN at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital with the help of her 25 years of nursing experience. She is also working toward her doctorate at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is a member of the Midwest Nursing Research Society, the American Nurses Association, the Wisconsin Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Remembering the difficulty of her first years as a nurse, Amy feels that helping new nurses is a worthy ambition. “I am concerned about their transition to the ‘real world’ of nursing and feel RealityRN is a great resource for the beginning practitioner.”

Leslie Gibson RN, BS
Leslie graduated from Purdue University School of Nursing and also holds a degree in Healthcare Administration. She authored a home study course, “Laughter: The Universal Language” and is recognized as a pioneer in the field of humor therapy. In 1989, she received one of the first national grants to put Comedy Carts & Clowns into hospitals from The Humor Project in New York.

Leslie is an internationally recognized speaker specializing in creative stress management, conflict resolution, customer service & various health care topics. Her workshops have been provided in England, Norway, Sweden, Brazil, and in nearly all 50 US states. In addition to her consulting, Leslie works full time with The Hospice of The Florida Suncoast as a Community Liaison.

She has been interviewed on radio & television shows including The Phil Donahue Show and American Health Network.

Kim Rapper, RN, BSN
Kim received her BSN from Olivet Nazarene University in 1997. In 2003, she earned a Graphics Arts and Web Design certificate from College of DuPage, helping her develop patient and family education materials. She is currently an RN at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL.

Ultimately, Kim’s passion is to see the phrase “Nurses eat their young” become just a bad memory. She hopes to make a difference by improving new grads’ first impressions of nursing in the real world.

Kim has done medical mission trips in Haiti, Brazil and China.

Melissa Granger, RN, BSN
Melissa received her BSN from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2005, worked in Med-Surg at Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn, IL, and currently is working on the Oncology floor at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst, IL.

Melissa is passionate about offering support to her fellow nurses that are just starting out in the profession. She says, “I don’t feel nurses are given enough support and mentorship in the beginning of their career.”
