Does misdemenor affect to get RN license in VA?
Hello, I am wondering if anyone can reassure me that I will be able to get my RN license in VA. I am currently starting my Nursing school. I have a misdemeanor for selling marijuana possession conviction from 2 years ago. When I was selling I don’t know it was legal and as I purchase he told us that it was legal. So I was in big trouble. I was accepted into nursing school and was told everything would probably be ok. Of course my drug test was clean, and would be for any one who wanted to test me at any time. I can't help but worry that the state of VA will deny my application for licensure because of this...it is so embarassing...none of my classmates know and they would never believe it! Does anyone have any advice or insight? Virginia allow expungement of convictions of any type but I did plea guilty. I am stuck with this humiliating problem forever.I talk with my lawyer and he told me that it wont affect in future. But I am so embrassed.

If I were you and you’re concerned, you may either want to contact the virginia board of nursing and also go talk to a lawyer. maybe you can get it expunged. i would recommend going to another state maybe a compact state and getting your boards there but you have to get fingerprinted and it may be an fbi finger print. so the charge would show. i’d contact the board of nursing in your state and see what your options are. and also talk to a lawyer you may be able to get it expunged or something. i think as long as it’s not a felony or assault then you’re fine. but talk to a lawyer and contact the board of nursing in your state. thanks
