DUI 10 yrs. ago
My daughter just finished RN school and plans to get her BSN. 10 yrs. ago at age of 21, she got a DUI. She is now 31. Will this affect her sitting for her NCLEX? She also has a temporary license and has been applying for jobs at hospitals. One asked if she ever had a DUI and she admitted that she had one 10 yrs. ago and went to the ARD program. I'm worried she won't be able to take NCLEX or get a job now?????

This might vary state-by-state, but in CT this is not an issue. After 10 years in CT, it gets removed from the DMV record, which is separate from the criminal record (if it gets expunged as part of an accelerated rehab program for first-time offenders, for example, it stays on the DMV record for 10 years still). It -may- still come up in that timeframe during driving background checks for jobs that require driving (ie home care nursing) but this does not automatically disqualify you from employment – it’s left to the employer’s discretion.
Again, this is all from a Connecticut resident. Your Mileage may vary (pun intended).

Thanks for responding. My daughter had no problem sitting for her NCLEX and has applied for tons of jobs but is being rejected. She had a couple interviews at doctor offices, but wants to work in a hospital. No luck so far. Hope the 10 yr. DUI doesn’t hurt her. It asks on her application and she did not lie.
