Multiple Sclerosis and nursing school.

Hello all.

I will be graduating with a BA in December and am thinking about my options for when I graduate. I am stuck between nursing, MPA or MSW.

I was diagnosed with MS last year and am pretty stable for the most part. Do you guys think it is a bad idea to do nursing with me having MS? I am trying to make the best choice for myself taking my illness into consideration. Please help!

Thanks.

Carmen

    Hi Carmen!

I am a new nurse of 7 months and my dad has MS so this topic is very dear to me. He too is pretty stable for the most part, he has been diagnosed for about 4-5 years I believe. So, fortunately he does not have the very progressive type, which I hope for you to not either.

Nursing is challenging, busy, and stressfull, but I think if you have the confidence to be a nurse, then go for it! Try it out and see how it goes. If it becomes hard on you with your MS, then try a different route. It can’t hurt to try.

Being a nurse is rewarding, amazing, awesome, yet stressfull, busy and overwhelming at times. You know yourself best and by December maybe you will see where your MS is going and be able to decide better. I pray that you stay healthy and strong!

    Good luck and best wishes!

    Leanna 🙂
