I have recently passed the Nursing RN Boards and am looking for a job, however I did not work during nursing school. Most jobs available require at least 1 to 2 years of on the job experience. I'm seriously considering working with an assisted living facility, but I'm worried that the experience will hinder my chances of working in a hospital. I welcome any advice.

Hospital nursing is so over rated it isn’t even funny. So you learn a bunch of stuff in the hosp. big deal. You still can’t make a move without a Dr. order. You could be the worlds greatest RN and yet you have, no, zero, zip nada, power without the blessing from the almighty MD.. If you want to be completely stressed out and burned out within a year or so, never get a lunch break, and work every weekend, holiday, and way after your shift then by all means go for it. The vast majority of RN’s out there can’t wait to get the heck out of the hosp.. I can’t ever face those God awful hours and the stress again. Take the other job you won’t regret it…..

A lot of my nursing classmates want to move back home, which they have the same problem you are experiencing “1-2 years of experience”. Our instructors suggest to still apply, and be sure to list clinical hours on your resume – by showing how many hours you earned on each unit will show the experience you have.
In addition, our instructors also recommended working at a skilled nursing facility/assisted living, as that is better experience than none while waiting for job opening.
