I want to finish my degree, but there are SO many online programs out there, that I get overwhelmed trying to figure out which is the best one. So far, I have looked into:
-Kaplan University
-Chamberlain
-University of Phoenix
Has anyone enrolled in any of the above? Which would u recommend?
Is there a better (more cost-effective, less pre-req's required, quicker program, ease, etc) that u would recommend?
Would I be better off going to an on-campus program? (Benedictine University has a program with College of Dupage that offers a BSN completion at state price).
Not sure of which way to go!!! Ugh
Thanks a bunch!

I am just finishing my BSN I will finishe 12-1-08. I completed a Hybrid program which was wonderful I could complete most of my work when it was easy for me and I had to go to campus once a week. I felt like I had more support at a smaller school and by going to campus. Good luck

As context, I have a PhD but did a BSN completion after getting a AS some years ago. I am now doing graduate admissions and advising for a top tier university nursing program. Part of the answer to your question has to do with what your future goals are.
If you want to go into a top tier MS nursing programs, you have lots of competition. For most of us, if you go to any of the online priograms you listed, you are not as likely to get admitted over someone who did a BS in a known university/college. The rigor of the instruction (in terms of critical thinking and writing skill) is just not as good.
That being said, UofP is the best of these three online programs. The quality of faculty and demands on the faculty for expertise tend to be be better than Kaplan or Chamberlain. Remember that the three online programs you refered to here are ‘for profit’ and are really targeted at people willing to pay money to go an easier route than nursing programs that have educationmal oversight by the ANCC or a state board of nursing. SO they will sell you a bill of goods, charge a significant tuition and you may find that your BS has a limited value in some areas of the country and in many future opportunities. SO be careful.
I would avoid any online program, except perhaps Uof P or a legitimate college/university, like the plague if you want to go on to a MS, DNP or PhD or if you may need to move to an area of the US where there are a lot of legitimate colegiate nursing programs.
Good luck.

I have been in an online RN-BSN program through the University of Kansas. I have one more semester (10 credit hours) before graduation. So far it has been a great experience and I would highly recommend it. KU is widely recognized as one of the better nursing programs around, and tuition for the online program is extremely competitive, much less than U of Phoenix. The education and course material is exceptional, and graduates have no problem moving on to graduate programs.

I wouldn’t limit yourself to just these three options. There are a lot of programs out there at solid universities with good reputations. Take your time and make the right choice the first time.

Hi Y’all:
I have a PhD in biochemistry from a large national cancer institute and university. I am beginning AS/RN and am wondering what opportunities for me to get into online programs for nurse anesth?
I have published a paper in anesthesiology already.

I would avoid Kaplan University for a multitude of reasons. You might try a local college or university. Many of them offer online programs. Phoenix and Walden I have learned are fine, but perhaps more pricey than you would pay if you attended locally. Visit some of the colleges that are mentioned above. Hope this helps.

I am going through Jacksonville University online RN-BSN program and have had a great experience. More $$ than a local college, but fits into a full-time work and mom’s life.
