I am trying to find hospitals who are offering New Grad RN program for Summer 2009 graduates. Most of the suburban hospitals are not offering any new gard RN program.

Megi, I am worried too… None of the hospitals are offering New Grad RN programs. Suburban hospital looks like have closed the door to new gards. I don’t whom this people are sending stimulus package????

If the hospital that you are applying at does not have a structured program, ask about mentors and preceptors, the orientation process, and the length of orientation. Although an already structured program would be ideal most hospitals have an orientation process some better than others so shop around if you can. If you cannot be mindful of the nurses working around you look for someone you trust, who has good judgment, someone who will give you the correct answer and tell you when they do not know and then ask them to help you become a better nurse. Ask if they could read your charting, if they would mind showing you new or interesting things that some of their patients may have. Some of the best teachers were my pears, and still are we all see different things so share what you have learned.

Loyola Medical Center has a nurse residency program. It is a hard program and hard to get in. If you are up to the challenge of 12 hour rotating shifts, high accuity patients go for it. You can learn a lot there!!

HELP!
I recently attended the Nursing job fair at Oakbrook and was told that Loyola Medical Center will be offering a Nurse residency program in a couple of weeks and to email Loyolamedical.org and type in nurse residency program. NO Luck.
I cannot find any information about this RN residency program. Where did you hear about this and how can I find out more about it????
