I am new here and I want to become a nurse. I'm in my mid 30s and I hope I'm not too old for it. Anyway, my question is can student nurses, what I mean by that is, students still in school not yet licensed/certified as RN be able to work at a clinic or doctor's office? Do doctor's even hire them even if they're not licensed yet?
It's a nagging question of mine. Also, I am currently working full time and my big concern is will it be an obstacle when I start my nursing degree? I can't quit work and be a full time student. I can't afford it. I'm planning on doing the A.S. degree first, be employed as a nurse and eventually get my B.S. degree.
I hope someone is able to give me an honest advice.

My suggestion to you is continue working at your job you have now while you do your preques like A and P, Micro ect. And then once you start your nursing courses after the first semester you can start applying for student nurse positions at local hospitals. Or you can challenge the CNA test and work as a CNA in a hospital or nursing home. Most of the jobs are Per Diem so you can easily pick up shifts that won’t conflict with clinical/lecture and exams. If that doesn’t work for your, then I suggest getting your CNA first, working as a CNA while you work on going to nursing school. And I’m in my mid 30’s and will be graduating in May, it didn’t even occur to me that I was too old.
