Hello, I recently looked into what I would have to do to become a CNA. I am currently in school to become an RN. Looking into the CNA I found out that at least going through the American Red Cross, I can not become a CNA through that entity because of past Felony convictions. I have a couple from the state of Georgia from 9 years ago. Does anyone have experience with this? This just tells me that if I once did wrong I can never be anything else.
Thanks
Curt

I do not have any legal knowledge, but I would look into that with your local state nursing board to see if they also have restrictions (may be more related to the type of felony). If so, you may want to contact a lawyer to see if there is anything you can do to have your record expunged at a certain time since they are from 9 yrs ago (assuming the felony’s post no current risk in their mind as to patient care).
