PTA Job Availability

PTA vs RN: I think I would enjoy physical therapy assistant over RN. Even though pay is lower and opportunities aren't as ranging. Will there always be room for a PTA with no real ties holding one down? Traveling sounds fun and I could stand 50k for life. Heard there is a shakeup in billing and the PTA job title is evolving outward? So many posts are for older RNs and go for it, scared at 42 after 15yrs I will hit the age hiring barrier in PTA? Or can I move around and always find a good spot? Help!! Even saw chemical engineers going for RN and that is another option, but I chuckled because I'll be out at 47, haven't had any that old? Thought that would be less of a glass ceiling, but he said internships may actually go to younger people? I would hate to be an unemployed chemical engineer. Despite all the go for it posts here I will get spit out of PTA after 10 years? Feel I could breeze through PTA and have extracurriculars compared to chemical engineering, trying to get straight A's. Besides passion and money, what do you see in future job problems, that you have seen or experienced from either side of the table, with above issues? Help! Or flip me a coin.
