I am a senior nursing student in the BSN program and I will be graduating in April.
Unforunately to get where I am, I have had to take out quite a few student loans.
Does anyone know of any hospitals in the Texas (Austin, Houston, Dallas) area that will do some sort of loan-repayment for signing on with them. I am really compasionate about the NICU, nursery or the pediatric areas. I know I've got some time before I need to really worry about all of this, but I'd like to get a head start and really weigh out my options before applying to hospitals.
Thanks!
Katie

Hi Katie,
You might want to consider the VA. True, they don’t really have Peds, NICU, or L&D areas, but they do typically offer loan repayment in exchange for a year of service.
Check out this link for a general overview of the student loan repayment: http://www.va.gov/jobs/job_benefits/continue_edu.asp#student
It would give you a chance to pay down your student loans and build your skill set. They have med centers in Dallas and in Houston. Hope this helps!

Hi, Katie,
There are several hospitals in Mississippi and southern Alabama that are offering loan re-payment (or a portion thereof) in exchange for a commitment to work Med-Surg for a couple of years. After the initial two years, you can transfer to one of the specialties (such as OB, L&D, Neonatal).
For more info, check out:

Hope this helps.

I think United Regional Health Care System (URHCS)in Wichita Falls, TX has in the passed done tuition reinbursment. I don’t know if they are still doing that. It is a good hospital with ICU, NICU, Nursery and Pediatrics.
