I am not a psych nurse, but why do you want to transfer, and how long have you been working in Med-surg? If you lack confidence in your skills, or you feel the patient load is too heavy, did you get an adequate orientation, with support from knowledgable, objective Preceptors and the Mgr? (see my answer to “can’t keep a job as a new nurse”). I am an Educator, and I have seen many new nurses become frustrated or leave the hospital or profession altogether, d/t inadequate orientation. It would be good idea to talk openly with a nurse you trust, or a Professor from school about your situation. Hang in there!
