Hi, I am 36 years old and I was wondering if I am too old to go into nursing. I am currently taking the pre-reqs at a community college, but for some reason I feel kind of old to start all over. I also wonder if I am going to have a hard time finding a job as a nurse because of my age.

You are definitely not too old. I am graduating this December with a lady in her 50s and many more in their 30s and 40s. None of them regret their decision.

I’m 44 and studying the RN re-entry to practice. I’m not worried about getting a job because I have incredible life experience and a realistic view of my own and others’ abilities that I didn’t have as a new grad at 20. Nursing needs mature people.

My mum was a nurse over 25 yrs ago and stopped to raise kids from 1984 and wants to get bak into it. She will be 51 this year and no you wont have any problems getting a job coz of the severe shortage of nurses.

It’s certainly nice to hear you ladies talk of the fact, that not all students in your classes are in their 20’s. I’m 49, and I’m trying to get the nerve up to just go for it.
I think it makes sense to get the pre reqs. out of the way first though. What are your thoughts on male nurses in the the field?
Thank you.
