Dometic Violence: Can I Become a Nurse?

A few years ago I was going through a difficult marriage and it ended with a domestic violence charge against me, I followed that up with a dui. How much does this hurt may chances of becoming a RN? Ive never been convicted of anything prior and havent been charged with annything since. I really want a career in the medical field and will be very hurt if my chances are ruined due to a crazy ex wife.

One Response to “Dometic Violence: Can I Become a Nurse?”

  1. Anne – nursing prof Says:

    Dear Heart-
Your chances aren’t ruined by your crazy ex-wife since she didn’t pour alcohol down your throat and put you behind the steering wheel forcing you to drive drunk, right? However, your chances may be ruined by the fact that you made the choice to behave in a violent way that is on your record and and also to drink and drive.

You can contact your state Board of Nursing and ask what they think-but given your lack of insight and taking responsibility for your own actions, I suspect you need serious counseling before you try this route at all.
