My daughter failed her nursing course. She has had a horrible time at nursing school, she was bullied for 5 months on a ward in her management placement. Her University teacher would not move her even though she asked twice. This same teacher did move two other girls in her group, who were on different wards, for the same reason. In the end, she was failed on just about everything, even things it was impossible for her to fail as they had passed her on other things. She was put in a resit, and was told they could not fault her nursing skills. She also passed all modules. They eventually failed her on self-reflection as she couldn't reflect on what they wanted and they wouldn't tell her what they wanted. She did do her reflection the way she knew but it was never enough. She had excellent attendance only being off one day in three years. It seems as soon as she put in a formal bullying complaint, the school wanted rid of her. She has had no support from anyone. She wants a nursing career. Can she fight the nursing school legally? If so, does anyone know how she can go about it. It is just so unfair after all her hard work to be failed on written self-reflection
thanks diane

Please seek legal advice. She may have a civil rights case. Did she appeal her failing grade? If she hasnt appealed the grade with the university, she should do that right away. There are appeal deadlines. Good luck!

In my experience, all assessments have success criteria communicated at the beginning – and all failing grades must document where the failure has been assessed against the success criteria. You need that to make any judements about the rights and wrongs of a failed assessment.
Norma is quite right though in her advice above.
