Online Application Dead Ends
How do you break the barrier of online applications? I have submitted 3 online applications with telephone follow-ups, but hit a brick wall when I ask to speak to a recruiter or HRM. Standard response is applications are processed online and did is not apart of the application process to speak with a live person. Any suggestion on how to get beyond the impersonal step of online applications?

As an Educator who dealt with many new grads trying to enter the RN Residency program at 1 hospital where I worked earlier this year, I heard the same complaint from many of those new grads. It is true, in some hospitals, that recruiters may have hundreds of applications (from new grads, for example) to choose from. It appeared to be difficult at this hospital, for the Recruiter to look at all of them–much less respond personally to each applicant.
Although this is not officially sanctioned, if you know any one who is employed at that hospital, I recommend asking them to put in a good word for you, with the Nurse Manager on the unit you are interested in. Try to have the Manager call you directly, or find out how to submit your resume directly to the Nurse Manager (in addition to submitting it to HR)Then, the Manager can follow up with HR and say she is interested in you specifically.
I know it is very difficult to be picked for an interview, in some hospitals.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information. I finally have a job interview for an RN Educator position at a local nursing home.
Thanks
