Just about to give up

Hi folks, I just need to vent. I'm lost, irritated, and just downright upset. I received my license in August 2008 and have not been able to find any type of RN position. I took two refresher courses did some certification and now I have a window of opportunity to get my masters, but I just don't have the strength to study or write papers anymore. Sigh, I feel that getting my education was a waste of my time especially since I ended up with a job that does not need an education.

I fail to understand why you would go back for your Master’s, spend all that money, and once again have no guarantee of finding a nursing job. Seems to me like you would just be digging a deeper hole to get out of financially and believe me if you wind up just working a nursing floor you won’t be paid dime one more than any other RN including ADN, BSN or diploma nurse. You will need solid nursing experience before anyone takes you serioously with a Masters…..

Not to mention the fact that nursing salaries are dropping all the time. I know of one nursing home, for example, that has fired all of its LPN’s, and replaced them all with new grad RNs, at less $ than the LPN’s were paid.
