My ADN program doesn't have a preceptorship, is it possible for me to find one on my own or an internship?

Name: Jon H.

I recently was looking into a local ADN program, at both for-profit and local community colleges. One of which, I really do enjoy their program, and think is very comprehensive, but it does not have a preceptorship. I was informed by my local hospital, that this is a huge factor in considering nurses for hire. My mother is a nurse, and she did some volunteer/ internship work during her RN at a local doctor's office, but I do not know where to even get started looking for a preceptorship/ internship. I know I need about 100 hours of experience and I would love to do it in a mental health facility, as that is where I would like my nursing focus to be. Can anyone give me advice on how I would go about talking with a NP or physician on getting something like this rolling before I start the program.
