New Graduate Nurse in New Jersey

I will be a new graduate nurse in May and am hoping to find a job in New Jersey. I have a lot of pediatric and NICU experience, have a good GPA, and even was awarded a scholarship through my externship this summer for my efforts on the level III NICU I was working on.

I have applied to an endless amount of jobs here, and I have heard nothing. I would love to work in a NICU, but at this point I would take anything. Does anyone have any advice for finding a job or have any contacts of nurse recruiters?

Thank you!

Jessica

    Hi Jessica,

Congratulations that you are completing your studies in May! I too live in Jersey and there are very few jobs here at the moment. It seems the hospitals and other facilities, especially in the north jersey area are at a freeze. Try applying for med/surg directly thru a hospital or sign up with an agency who will take you without that one year of experience. There are many agencies that are looking to recuit new hires as it means money for their company, especially in light of a sagging economy. Also, if you border PA or NY, I would get your license transfered over because there may be jobs “just over the border”. Hope this helps!
