New Nurse Salary

I am a grad nurse and have a dilemma. I have been a tech/assitant for the same company for 3 years and have over 9 years work experience in my field. My company offered me a staff nurse position after I graduated but I hear they do not plan on paying me much more than I already make. They sound like they want me to do my old duties in addition to my new nursing duties. How do I ask for more without sounding arrogant? or should I take a hint and move on?

I just graduated. I live in an area where the cost of living to income ratio for nurses is terrible. Unfortunately with the current economy there is no way to be picky. If you can find something else, great, but the way it was for me is I had to take the first job available.

you should really look around, I don not know but in new york starting RN salary is $65,000 and RN had aid to help, this is degradation of nursing profession with what you presented I mean demand company has of you.

Does anyone live in Orange County, California and know what the starting pay is for new nurses, new RN grads here? Looking at Hoag hospital in Newport Beach. Heard a really low salary of 30-40K first year with 10K for graveyard shift. This sounds really low. May be correct, but would like to know if this is what I am facing.

even if they paid you 100K/year……trust me…..it’s NOT worth it!
