What does "quality nursing program" mean?

Hey all,

I'm just about done with my nursing pre-reqs and am getting ready to apply to several nursing programs here on the west coast. I'm looking several schools based on location and some hear-say about the quality of their nursing programs, but I find my self a little lost as to what I should be looking for.

What are some of the factors I should consider? Job placement? Grad rate? class size? Is it something that will be important in my long-term career? How many schools should I apply to? I've talked to the counselors at my school a few times, but they're focus seems to be getting students graduated and transferred somewhere, anywhere, without much consideration to area of study. I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed and would appreciate any advice you have for me.

Melissa
