Will a mgr position ruin my resume?

I am a brand new nurse just graduated from an ADN program last month. Taking boards tomorrow. I have accepted a position as a Director of Operations/Clinical at a family practice doctor's office.. where I worked as a medical assistant for 4 years prior to starting school. I am terrified that by accepting this position I will not be qualified for a hands on patient care job down the road, which is what I love. Job openings were VERY limited in my area, and this was really the only option for me, I love the office and am very excited and blessed to have a job at all. Any thoughts on how this will affect my resume and future job opportunities???

Thanks!

  1. Anne – nursing prof w/a heart Says:

I think you will be OK. Look for a per diem postion (weekends and/or holidays) for some acute care or ECF experience to round out your resume.

I agree with Anne. It should be just fine, as long as you get some hospital experience along with via per diem work. Good luck to you.
