Well it's official nursing may be one of the WORST jobs out there in terms of your personal health.
Shift work, high stress, poor eating habits, poor sleep habits etc etc.. No wonder there is such a high turnover in this field.
Do you agree?

So…Nurses care for and do everything for thier patients…physically, emotionally, and even get that “mental” help needed for some patient populations.
It is not just a 12 hour shift…but at the earliest a 13 hour one. I recently had a patient who was “Unhappy with his lunch” I walked all the way to the cafeteria, bought him his dinner, with my own money….he said he had to have.
When I delivered the tray…I thought he would be so happy that I had gone out of my way to make his stay better…
As I layed the lunch tray down, that I had payed for personally, He threw his urine from his urinal at me …in the face…and then procceded to throw his own feces at me……
If I just get to leave now with out a patient dumping their piss and feces on me…I call that a good day…..
If you are going into nursing …make sure you really want it!!

Wow Bo sorry that happened to you but on the bright side you learned a valuable lesson: never waste your own money on a patient or family member. Remember you only met this guy a couple of days ago, have limited contact with him/her, and basically only owe them good care during your shift. All patients and family members care only about themselves or their loved one. Most of the time they only call you “nurse” and don’t even bother to ask your name. We are just the whipping boys/girls of healthcare and that is for everyone right on down the line….
