Hi everyone,
I'm so glad I found this site- it's so informative! I am a 38 year old mother of 2, currently working on my GED. I have a long road ahead but my plan is to get my GED, take a CNA class, study for my math/english placement testing at my local community college, apply for financial aid- and if I get accepted to nursing [...]

an aggressive and unprofessional classmate who plans to work on your unit? I have a situation now where I have accepted my dream first job, and a classmate of mine is applying to work on the same unit as I will be. She thinks that we are very good friends, which we're not! I'm afraid that her unprofessional behaviors would impact me negatively because she [...]

I am interested in flight nursing in the DC Metro area. Some people that I've talked to said that I would have to become a police officer in order to do critical care transport for the State Police Medevac. My question is two-fold:

1) Is that true?
2) If so, are there other opportunities for local flight nursing (i.e. critical care transport)?

I was looking through the books and CDs on-line, but would love some advice/recommendations before shelling out $$ to buy one! Anyone [...]

I am just starting a BSN express program at a VERY good nursing school. Because this school is so prestigious the tuition is out of this world. For the first time in my life I had to take out a loan and I'm already getting extremely anxious about paying it back. I've heard stories where recent grads will get jobs where hospitals will pay back [...]

I am a nursing student and during clinical rotations I can't help but cringe by the nurses wearing Betty Boop, Snoopy, Tinkerbell, and, worst of all, the nurse wearing the scrub pants with the word "NURSE" written across her behind. If we want to be treated like intelligent, competent professionals, shouldn't we dress like it? I have never seen a doctor wear a Mickey Mouse lab [...]

I am currently 7 1/2 months pregnant (with my 4th baby). I work on a med/surg unit that does not utilize cna's. I work 3 12's in a row. I sit down for maybe 30 minutes the entire shift - once to eat, once to chart. I continue to do heavy lifting (95% of the time - there is no choice), pulling, bending, etc. I [...]
