I am a new RN and have been working on a med-surge floor for about 9 months now. When the patient census on our floor is low we are often required to float to other units in the hospital. Of course, nobody likes to float to other units, but we do what we must when needed, it's simply part of the job.

Hi, I am 36 years old and I was wondering if I am too old to go into nursing. I am currently taking the pre-reqs at a community college, but for some reason I feel kind of old to start all over. I also wonder if I am going to have a hard time finding a job as a nurse because of my age.

I am graduating in December 2008 with my RN-BSN; however, after doing some research I realize the program I was "banking" on to pay my loans back has vanished. Any ideas where to get my loans paid for and I am not holding the check? Most hospitals I have found will pay for my masters or future education not just past.

I have a couple from the state of Georgia from 9 [...]

What if you authored a book of your observations and experiences as a RN?
(Of course keeping within HIPPA standards for patients and employees)
What if the hospital or your respective place of employment terminated your employment because you wrote a book?
On January 21, 2008, I was terminated from my 26 plus year position [...]

Our longest surviving ER doctor back home had a big list of complaints against him, the worst of which was headbutting a patient. He's our most experience doctor, and very good at his job. The patient who got headbutted was a skinhead who threatened him. The guy deserved it, and the list of complaints went missing.

I'm just wondering if anyone went back to school after having a degree in another field? Was it what you expected, do you have any regrets? I guess my biggest fear is to go back and then become an RN and realize it wasn't what I expected and regret it.I have started thinking about nursing and have job shadowed a little and I [...]

Inspired by the post "Most common nursing student mistakes," I want to know what current RNs wish they'd learn/known when they were students (like me!)?
