I have been a nurse's aid at a nursing home for about two months now, and I have to tell you I thought it was going to be easy. I had no idea how physically demanding it would be. I'm also not use to an 8 1/2 - 9 hour shift, so it was a big adjustment. Because I dont like it, I began [...]

I'm in the process of joining a nursing program, and I was told by a nurse in my family that because I have a misdemeanor assualt on my record I would most likely be turned down for the program. Is that something they practice state to state?

I am interested in finding out  what avenues are available for a student nurse who has had two outs. The first one occurred during a chemistry class and an immediate family member dying the week of finals, and the student not being allowed to take the test any later. She could write that she didn't do it, but she still was counseled to sign, etc. What happens to these papers and future employment or liability? What can you do about the contents of your employment [...]

I am very torn on what type of unit I want to start out on. I have heard from a few nurses who really suggest at least a year of med/surg before going into a specialty. I really loved my labor and delivery rotation. I also love working with kids. So I don't know if I do end up doing med/surg for the first year...is [...]

Many people talk about the impending nursing shortage. However, I haven't heard anything about where the shortage will have the most impact. Will it be in LCT? Hospital nursing? Home health care? I would really like to see some hard data that shows, by percentages, how the shortage will play out.
