I have been a nurse just over 3 years, all of that spent doing ED/Trauma. Over time I have felt that while I can do this job pretty well, my heart is not in it. I am beginning to feel the infamous burnout that is so common in nursing especially in critical care.
I am becoming increasingly interested in pursuing a career in outpatient rehab/cardiac rehab/sports [...]

A question to my more experienced nursing colleagues:
I am a new grad nurse, and I on my fifth week of preceptorship in the ER. I have more experience than most of the people in my class (I had been a CNA, EMT, combat medic 7 years before nursing school), so I do feel more comfortable with my skills.
I have 2 questions:
(1) Sometimes I'm not [...]

I just transferred to an ICU with only 9 months experience. I have been on this unit for about 5 months, and a month ago a nurse (who was busy and I was the only one who offered her help) was apparently addressing me, said: "since your up, help me boost my patient." I was sitting, so I asked her if she was speaking [...]

I am 35, and for the last 10 years, I was a stay at home mom, and my goal was to remain one. But a failing marriage to a man who didn't want to try very hard to support his family lit a fire under me to do something about our [...]

Part of that legislation was the Health Information Technology (H.I.T.) [...]

I have just recently finished my master's degree in nursing education and find myself wondering just what do nursing students want from their nursing instructors?
With a bevy of people on this forum either in school or having just finished their nursing degrees I was very curious to know, what would make your lives better?
Nursing is hard, as I'm sure you're all aware, and the transitions [...]

At times, in the ICU, with the fast pace, we feel left out of the loop. We would like to know of any nurses who feel the same, and anyone who has found a way to collaborate more effectively with attendings, interns, and residents in the teaching hospital environment. Your experience and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was really lucky I found this site years ago. I have had a very close and personal relationship with the BON in my state for a number of years. I lost my license in 2002 for non compliance with the Health Practitioners Intervention Program which at the time was VMI. I had initially been but in treatment in 2001 for a [...]
